Flight attendant Taylor Tippett has discovered a way to make a passenger’s flight just a bit more comfortable: a simple, handwritten note.
For nearly a year, the Washington D.C.-based attendant for American Airlines has been taping slips of paper marked with words of encouragement to the windows of airplanes. She shares an image of each note to Instagram, alongside the hashtag #wordsfromthewindowseat before tucking the note into a safety card in hopes that a passenger will find it.
In this mini documentary from Seeker Stores, Tippett shared the story behind her first #wordsfromthewindowseat post. The quote, "You’re already invited," is taken from the book How to Be An Explorer of the World by Keri Smith, one of Tippett’s favorites.
"You’re already invited to, like, kill this day, to like, nail it, to have the best day ever," she told Seeker Stories. "It’s already set up for you, you just have to, like, go do it."
In the time since her first post, #wordsfromthewindowseat has become a regular feature on her personal Instagram. The hashtag’s even inspired similar posts from the project’s admirers.
Now, thanks to the Seeker Stories documentary, Tippett’s project is picking up steam.
"When I started #wordsfromthewindowseat almost a year ago, I never in my life could have imagined it would turn into what it has become today," she writes on Instagram. "I am overwhelmed. My little baby is growing and so many cool things are on the way."
